We strongly believe internal art exercises are a cornerstone for growth and progress. Add in the mix obscure 1960s weapon and you've got a proper challenge on your hands.
Originally designed as a replacement for the WW2 era flamethrowers, M202 was fielded in Vietnam as then named XM191 platform. Weapon never really caught on due to it's bulkiness and munitions reliability issues, however, it's still listed as part of the US army inventory as far as Afghanistan war.
Weapons most notable appearance in Pop-culture was it's 1985 Commando movie debut.
Broken down into basics, the M202 is a fairly simple weapon so we knew we needed to push our texturing by quite a bit to transform the dull shapes into something that is visually appealing. Reference gathering process proved challenging as real life pictures were scarce at best, so we've resorted to taking inspiration from similar US weapons of the era for materials, and dissecting loose technical drawings to the best of our ability.
We would love to hear your thoughts on our rendition of this overlooked classic!
